An AMERICAN BITTERN was in the reeds along the east bank of Grant Lake
at 10:45 this morning -- mostly in the up-pointing posture, but once
seemed to be vocalizing (though I couldn't hear it from my location).
About the same time two AMERICAN PIPITS made a brief stop at the little
island along the south bank. Earlier in the park were LINCOLN'S SPARROW
(2), YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER (2), RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER, CALIFORNIA
THRASHER, SAY'S PHOEBE (2 interacting), RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, and
HUTTON'S VIREO. Crowned sparrows were in several locations (about 3:1
white:golden).
