SBBers,
This morning, 05/19/07, about 100 yards from the trailhead to Bald Mountain from Mt. Umunhum Road there was a SAGE SPARROW downslope from the trail. It was moving actively in the brush about 30 yards away. I didn't hear or see any Black-chinned Sparrows.
Around noon at Arzino Ranch I saw 4 or 5 BURROWING OWLs and 3 CATTLE EGRETs. In the field across from the ranch I had a distant view of at least one YELLOW-HEADED BLACKBIRD on the fence. The blackbirds didn't linger on the fence long enough for me to determine how many YHBLs were present.
Perched on the fence bordering the property near the Pin High Driving Range off of North First Street were 2 BURROWING OWLs.
Peggy Don
