Two days ago I stopped by the BALD EAGLE nest on Calaveras Road at 4:00pm. The two adults were in the nest. Two chicks were clearly visible. One of the adults fed them what looked like a squirel. About an hour later one adult brought in a fish, and both adults fed the chicks. They also took turns bringing in new twigs to the nest.
I was able to get some video of the action. The video is here:

On the summit of Sierra Road there was a pair of KILLDEER with chicks and a HORNED LARK taking a dust bath. Videos of both here, as well as a male LAZULI BUNTING:

While i was at the summit, a Sheriff's deputy stopped by to remind me that parking is not allowed there. He also said that it was dangerous after 7:00p.m. He said they had a car jaking right there just the night before. I don't know if he was just telling me that to get me going. Either way, be careful if you are up there in the evening.
good birding.
Manny
