[SBB] Calaveras, Marsh Rd. gate

Friday, after stopping to check out the Bald Eagle nest atop a tower above Calaveras Reservoir, I drove down Marsh Road hoping to get a closer view of the birds at the shore of the reservoir.  Does anyone know if it’s ok to drive down the dirt road after the cattle guard and unlocked chain link gate in order to continue to the south shore of the reservoir?  The orange sign on the gate says only “no hunting”, but there are signs very nearby that say “No Loitering, No Trespassing San Francisco Water Department.” Does anyone know the status of the road beyond the unlocked gate?
