[SBB] Palo Alto Summer Bird Count needs Help!

Birders,

The Palo Alto Summer Bird Count is just over two months away. It will be held on June 2nd, as always the first Saturday of June. Birders of all levels of experience are encouraged to participate. Contact me for more information.

This year we have a special need, and if it is not fulfilled some areas of the count may not be successfully covered. The Palo Alto count circle is divided into eight regions. One individual we call a region coordinator has been responsible for seeing that the most productive areas within each region are covered. This involves recruiting (with my help) people to count, assigning them to areas, and distributing and collecting the paperwork.

Over the past 2-3 years for a variety of reasons we have lost several good region coordinators. I have been unable to fill all these positions to the extent that I have been coordinating up to three regions as well as organizing the overall count. This has been a demanding job, and I have decided I cannot continue wearing so many hats. Therefore, beginning with this count, two coordinators are needed to make the count the success it has been in the past.

You don't have to be an experienced birder to be a coordinator, but you have to be willing to make new friends, learn more about important birding areas, and handle some paperwork. Please contact me if you think you might be willing to contribute you time and energy to this very worthwhile cause.
