Hi SBBers,
This morning, 03/19/07, I headed to Ed Levin County Park, Spring Valley
Pond area and found 2 WESTERN KINGBIRDs along the entrance to the Spring
Valley Trail. This is the area next to the map box/display case near the
horse corrals. Walking up the trail past the map box the kingbirds ranged
ahead and also went to the high bare limbed perches off to the right. A
pleasure seeing them again. I headed for the Los Conches Ridge Trail where
Roland Kinner had reported a Great Horned Owl nest (posted 03/16/07 for
more direction). I found the occupied nest easily enough and got a full
head view of the GREAT HORNED OWL. When I returned to the kingbird area 2
hours plus later I cound not refind them with a short look around.
I then went on up Calaveras Blvd and saw a BALD EAGLE on the nest. Should
be fun when the nestlings show up.
