Hi Birders-
I was also at Ed Levin today, twice. Did not check around the Spring Valley picnic area like Mike, but did drop in on you know who, the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker. It appears to have a solid black bib now. I continued up Calaveras Rd to Calaveras Reservoir and saw the Bald Eagle on its nest on a power tower. The nest is obvious. Just keep driving until you see it. I then trespassed through Alameda County. Later in the day I went back to Ed Levin, this time above Sandy Wool Lake, and took the trail up to the Sycamores. There I wandered up the gulch behind the trees and found a Great Horned Owl and a Rufous-crowned Sparrow.
Dave Weber,
Milpitas.
