Hi Birders-
Doesn't look like my last post made it through, so
this is sort of what I said plus some. Yesterday afternoon I checked the
Bald Eagle nest at Calaveras Reservoir. Two very large chicks were in the nest.
Manny Vara drove up and we watched them for twenty minutes, but the adults never
appeared. I was able to pick out two Golden Eagles cruising along the hills
across the reservoir. This morning I stopped in Alviso. Could only see one
Cattle Egret at Arzino Ranch. Over at the EEC two Black Skimmers were on the
first island on the salt pond. Then I went to a day-long class at work where I
learned that lay-offs are in progress. Not again! After class I did what anyone
would do in this situation. I went birding. A stop in Alviso again found only
one Cattle Egret. It was following a horse around, but also following the horse
was a small flock of Barn Swallows. Interesting.
