[SBB] Lower Stevens Creek

Suncay morning I headed north from Crittenden Lane along Stevens Creek.
At "Crittenden Marsh", there were 39 Semipalmated Plovers, but not much
else. The only other shorebirds I saw here were 3 each Greater Yellowlegs
and Least Sandpipers. At Salt Pond A2E, scoping east to the narrow
boardwalk, I had a high count of 18 Least Terns resting there. (Since
several were coming or going, the actual total could be higher.) This
pond also had 2 Brown Pelicans.

I could see a large concentration of birds on the next salt pond
north -- "B1" according to Bill's map, "AB1" on the map at the South
Bay Resotration program's web site. The flock was spread well out
along the north edge of the pond. I decided not to do the trek out
there, burtr instead scoped from the southwest corner of B1. The flock
had large numbers of Gulls, at least 150 American White Pelicans (likely
quite a few more were blocked from view by an island) another 10
Brown Pelicans, and more than 200 Egrets (a mix of Snowy and Great),
plus Stilts and Forster's-type Terns in flight. It's entirely
possible I missed something more interesting by not getting closer.

Late morning I visited the New Chicago Marsh. I met Roland and Pat
who had comnpleted the circuit, so I only walked north along the RR
tracks. Very little was worth noting there, although about 230
Wilson's Phalaropes was more than I think they encountered.

Finally, a visit to the Sunnyvale WPCP late afternoon Saturday in
search of Terns turned up just one: a Caspian resting with the Gulls.
The latter were mostly adult Ring-billed, plus a few each of adult
and juvenile California.
