Hi Birders-
Stopped in Alviso this morning hoping for a Glaucous Gull at the EEC. I only checked the first island and there wasn't much on it. There were gulls way out in the marsh, too far to tell. As I was driving out of the parking lot a large white gull flew over the car. I was certain it was a Glaucous Gull but waited until it turned slightly revealing its large pink and black bill. It continued to the E. Later at Ed Levin Park E of Milpitas I dropped in on the YBSS. Ron Wolf was there. He had just photographed a very bright male Nutall's Woodpecker that clung motionless to a trunk in great light. He was hoping for the same with the YBSS. We eventually found the bird but it was its typical self, hidden most of the time, punctuated by brief periods of flying back and forth and moving up and down. It allowed Ron to get one picture.
Dave Weber,
Milpitas
