Hi Birders-
First stopped at Ed Levin Park hoping for some sign
of migration. Not much there. Then went down to the EEC in Alviso where I ran
into Bob Reiling and Frank Vanslager on the boardwalk. Armed with their
high-power optics they soon found a Semipalmated Sandpiper across the water from
the boardwalk. It stayed around long enough to confirm the short blunt-tipped
bill. It was a just a bit larger than the Leasts and still smaller than a
Western and appeared to be a juvenile. It apparently flew off with a group of
leasts. Other groups flew in but we didn't refind the Semipalm.
