Sal Salerno and Daniel Gilman from Modesto showed me the PECTORAL SANDPIPER
in their scopes; it was walking on the algae mat at the west end of the
first island in A16, too far away for any kind of picture (I tried). I was
able to get a not-so-hot flight picture of one of the BLACK SKIMMERS. A
GREEN HERON posed obligingly on the rail of one of the lookouts on the east
side of A16, and I took yet more dowitcher pictures, one of which I've
posted.
