After Mike Rogers left us on 4 Aug 07, Steve
Rottenborn and I went to New Chicago Marsh in Alviso
to continue birding. We found 2 juvenile SEMIPALMATED
SANDPIPERS, one being near the end of the tracks, just
before the spur meets the main line, and the other
near the levee separating the marsh from A16 near the
first island. Also, we confirmed that the BLACK
SKIMMERS on the first island are incubating a 3-egg
clutch. A male PEREGRINE FALCON sitting on a power
tower as we left was probably what had the birds all
excited earlier in our visit, although we couldnt see
it then. We missed refinding a Pectoral Sandpiper that
had been reported earlier.
