Hello All,
This morning 8/3/2007 at about 8:45 AM, a sizeable flock of Vaux's
Swifts (I can vouch for at least 20) dived down and drank on the fly
from the little pond at Monte Bello's Gate 5 pond. They were thirsty,
and returned repeatedly, circling rapidly just above the pond. There
was also one White-throated Swift in the flock, which also included
several species of swallows.
Otherwise the cast of characters remains much the same as early in the
week, with notables including 3 Lawrence's Goldfinches, 2 Chipping
Sparrows, and an adult Green Heron (there were 3 individuals here
yesterday!) An Olive-sided Flycatcher is still in the area and could be
heard calling.
