[SBB] Rancho San Antonio OSP , 4/27/07

I made my third trip of the week to the OSP and confirmed that the
Western Screech-Owl continues. This time I made my way to the pond
on the Rogue Valley Trail (2.3 miles from the parking lot). The pond
contained one male Ring-necked Duck and 3 Mallard couples. Tree
Swallows and Phoebes were getting the bugs. The trip highlight
however was the appearance of a pair of screaming Red-shouldered
Hawks over the left canyon rim being confronted? by another pair
coming over the right side. The four birds circled each other
screaming while I watched a 5th Red-shouldered Hawk fly in to check
out the racket? After 5 minutes or so of screaming, they all just
quietly flew off.

Two male Turkeys were displaying at each other near the tennis
courts. No Bluebirds seen today.
