Sunday at Grant Ranch. On the way up,
observed a red shouldered hawk along the road. Also saw a kestrel hovering
very well in the strong wind. Upon getting to the parking lot on the south
side, saw one of many red tails for the day. Later on, while walking a
little south of the barn on the west side, saw a marsh hawk that was flying all
around the valley floor south of the barn. While crossing over to the east
side of the valley floor, saw a golden eagle flying around. It gained
altitude and flew off after taking off from the trees. Walking back along
the east side of the valley, saw a kite pestering a red tail as it flew
around. It eventually took off south and the kite flew off to.
Finally, while getting close to the house, saw a cooper's hawk fly over gaining
some altitude.
Also saw the Lawrence goldfinches. Saw a
couple of hooded orioles.
We did also see a group of 4 pigs just north of the
barn too. They spooked quickly and ran off into the trees.
