[SBB] NOPA, FRGU & BANSWA

SBBers,

This morning (09-21-06) starting shortly before 7 AM I participated in the “find the NORTHERN PARULA” game until a Black Phoebe chased off the star player.

Around 11 AM the FRANJKIN’S GULL was in the smelly channel at the SWPCP.  For directions check my previous post or just follow your nose.

In Alviso shortly after noon I found a BANK SWALLOW amongst the predominantly BARN SWALLOWs on the wires.  (It took me only 5 trips for success!)  A train whistle soon scattered them.  Among the returnees I found the HY CLIFF SWALLOW which I showed Mike Mammoser who had just arrived.  Mike refound the Bank Swallow.  Another train sent them off again.  After Mike left the Bank Swallow did return.

For my biking exercise today I biked along the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail.  In the creek was a lone juvenile PIED-BILLED GREBE with a striped head and orange bill.  I didn’t know that they bred so late in the year.  Near the end of the trail there were two GREATER YELLOWLEGs in the creek.

Good birding and biking,

Peggy Don
