Photographing warblers at Sunnyvale--
Yesterday, I spent about an hour at SV (seeing nothing but Yellow and OC).
But I found this great little spot where yellow warblers were coming to
bathe. If you walk to the end of the warblery row of cottonwood trees and
keep going, you have eucaluptus trees. There is a little stream with reeds.
There is one place with 3 benches. If you face the benches, to the left
there is a tree and right to the left of that is an opening in the reeds
where the water shows. Yellow warblers were coming to bath, splash, etc. --
then zipped up in the low branches to shake off.
Might be worth a try.

I went by Sunnyvale Baylands this morning, where I saw lots of local
birders, and lots of YELLOW WARBLERS too, but no rare warblers. This was
doubtless becaue I was trying to see them where I could get a picture if I
did (ie, not up in the canopy) -- which was a real long shot, to say the
least. I did get a picture of a LINCOLN'S SPARROW.
I went on to Alviso, where there were three RED-NECKED PHALAROPES (all
juveniles, I think) along with the usual LESSER YELLOWLEGS (Greaters as
well) in the stream alongside the road into the EEC. At the EEC,
WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS had arrived.
