[SBB] Brewers Sparrow

I stopped by the Santa Clara Valley Water District this morning Sept. 10. I found a Brewers Sparrow in the south east corner feeding on the ground near a bench. Ann Verdi was nearby and quickly refound the sparrow. It's nice to have someone with her expertise to verify my bird.

A Common Moorhen, not often seen here, was seen in the main pond. Many Vaux's Swifts flying with Violet-Green and Barn Swallows made them difficult to count. When two adult Red shouldered Hawks appeared, the Vaux's Swifts gathered together and flew in tight formation over the hawks. I estimated 40 VASW, possibly more. Ann observed a juv. VASW being fed on the wing. Three White throated Swifts were seen flying extremely fast down the river channel. A Common Yellowthroat was seen and more heard. Several Yellow Warblers flew into my binocular view as I was birding and more heard in the willows. I birded only a small portion of the property before leaving.

The SCV water district headquarters is located on Almaden Ex. at Via Monte. There's visitor parking on the south side, which is close to where the Brewers Sparrow was seen.
