All,
Over lunch today 9/1/06, I biked out to the Stevens Creek mouth and
joined Bob Reiling, Frank Vanslager, and Jack Cole waiting for lightning
to strike twice in the same location and have some Elegant Terns come to
roost on the uncovering mudflats. No luck with that, although we did
have 2 CASPIAN TERNS and plenty of FORSTER'S TERNS around. The number of
RED KNOTS kept increasing and had reached 49 by the time I left at
12:05pm (a mix of basic, juvenile, and partial alternate plumages,
including one bird still in largely alternate plumage). Other birds of
note included 23 BROWN PELICANS and an adult PEREGRINE FALCON perched on
a tower in pond AB1.
