All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I had LARK SPARROWS (lots, heading up
Sierra Road), ROCK WREN (one at the top of the hill on Sierra Rd. north of
the corral), HORNED LARKS (about 100 just beyond the crest of
the hill), AMERICAN PIPITS (5-6 on hillside west and just before #5000),
PRAIRIE FALCONS (two; one flying just west of #5000 that was poorly seen
and the other, a well viewed adult, that was eating a bird on a power pole
on Felter Road), and a GOLDEN EAGLE soaring over the hills east of Felter
Rd. In Alviso an OSPREY was eating a fish on a power tower along
the entrance road to the Don Edwards Environmental Education Center. The
high water levels in New Chicago Marsh have made the area below the Power
Towers a favorite of the shorebirds, nothing new there today but this area
should not be missed if one is looking for goodies.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
