This afternoon (18 Oct) on the way back from a meeting in Hollister, I
stopped by the South County Regional Wastewater Authority in Gilroy. Few
ponds had water in them. Highlights in the two ponds on the left just
inside the gate were 19 Blue-winged Teal, a female-type Eurasian Wigeon, 91
Ring-necked Ducks, 48 Pied-billed Grebes (a large concentration), and a
Western Grebe. A Cackling Goose was with Canadas at one of the ponds along
Llagas Creek farther south. A Prairie Falcon flew over.
