Hi all:
Our Palo Alto Adult School birding class enjoyed
Steven's Creek County Park this a.m. from 6-12. The
lion's share of our time was spent in the parking area
for the Chestnut Picnic Area and the picnic area
itself. Incoming spring migrants were in full song.
Birding by ear was especially fun/productive.
Highlights were:
Cassin's, Warbling, Hutton's Vireos singing/calling
and well seen.
Bullock's Orioles ditto.....
Pacific-slope, Olive-sided, Ash-throated Flycatchers,
Western Wood-Peewee ditto....
Brief glimpse of Western Tanager
Singing California Thrasher
Croaking Caspian Tern
Love was in the air, w/ a pair of Red-shouldered
Hawks, Osprey, and Red-tailed Hawks flying together at
various times through the morning.
A minimum of a half-dozen stump, leaf, and insulator
birds rounded out our list.
Good birding,
Bob Power
Oakland, CA
