I had a male HOODED ORIOLE today at 11th and San Fernando, appropriately among palm trees. The local EUROPEAN STARLINGS were harassing him quite a lot, so he was moving around. This was a campus-first for me; I don't know how unusual they are in Santa Clara county generally. My San Jose State campus list stands at 44 species, all seen/heard without benefit of binoculars, and most in brief walks between classes and appointments. Someday I'll have to really bird the place correctly!
