It was very birdy this morning along the trail that heads towards the Pueblo picnic area from Fortini Road. Highlights included WHITE-TAILED KITE, 3 CALIFORNIA THRASHERS, OAK TITMOUSE, PACIFIC SLOPE FLYCATCHER, 4 WESTERN KINGBIRDS, a pair of BULLOCK'S ORIOLES, lots of WRENTITS, one of which was generous enough to give me very good close views, as did 3 LESSER GOLDFINCHES (in very bright breeding plumage), and my target bird a lone skulking RUFOUS CROWNED SPARROW high on the trail. ORANGE CROWNED and WILSONS WARBLERS were) heard but not seen. GOLDEN CROWNED AND WHITE CROWNED SPARROWS linger, and a YELLOW BILLED MAGPIE rounded out the morning.
