[SBB] Rancho San Antonio

Today at noon Tom Stewart & I darted out to Rancho San Antonio County Park where the WESTERN SCREECH OWL was in full view.  Thanks to all for posting directions to its location last week. You can look at photos and read all about owls, but nothing can be better than having a great view in person.  At one point it opened its eyes and looked around, but for most of the 10 minutes we were there it looked to be sleeping.

Other birds that we encountered in our less than 1/2 hour outting included:
Black-headed Grosbeak (we saw it singing)
Western Bluebird (female)
Violet-Green Swallow
California Quail
Acorn Woodpecker
Nuttall's Woodpecker (heard only)
American Robin
California Towhee
Steller's Jay
Western Scrub Jay
Song Sparrow (heard only)
Bewick's Wren (heard only)
Wild Turkey (heard only)

Karen DeMello
