All,
This morning Frank Vanslager and I walk clockwise from the Environmental
Education Center around Salt Pond A16 to where the trail starts around Salt Pond
A17 on the north side of A16 (one cannot just walk around A16) to
check the Algae mat on the northeastern side of A16 for the large
numbers of shorebirds seen there on Tuesday (7/11). Unfortunately
one should "strike when the iron is hot" as there were literally no
shorebirds there today. Best birds seen were a RED-NECKED
PHALAROPE and a LESSER YELLOWLEGS, near each other, in the far northwestern
corner of New Chicago Marsh.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
