This evening, July 21, while in my backyard, I saw an immature Vaux's Swift. For several years now I've seen Vaux's Swift disappear into my neighbors eucalyptus tree, but have been unable to find a nest. Tonight I saw an adult and immature flying overhead. The immature had a less powerful flight, flew lower and slower and was less aerobatic than the adult. It's wings were noticeably shorter.
I saw a small Brush Rabbit on our lawn for the second time tonight. I can't imagine what brought it to this location. At dusk, an adult Red tailed Hawk flew past on his usual evening flight.
