hi Larry,
Original posting of directions:
For two days in a row, I've seen a western screech owl at rancho san
antonio, around 3-4 in the afternoon.
The owl was still there I believe June 9.
Location:
if you park in the main lot(s) and head towards the farm -- after the tennis
courts the trail splits into paved road and very wide path. Take the paved
road towards the farm. about 3/4 of the way before the trails meet up
again, directly to the left of the road (tree is about 2' from the edge of
the pavement) there's a dead or partially dead tree and the owl is sitting
about 9' off the ground. This is the first tree AFTER the tree that the
Acorn woodpeckers normally hang out in. Owl sits in the 'far' side of the
tree so go past the tree and turn around to see him/her. very photogenic.
