All,
Shortly after 10 AM this morning Pat Kenny, Roland Kenner, Dean Manley,
Frank Vanslager and I had an alternate plumaged RUDDY TURNSTONE working the
narrow islands in the northwestern corner of New Chicago Marsh. The bird
was last "seen" moving low toward the east. (My guess is that this
bird would best be re-found by walking the southern edge of Salt Pond A16
checking the edges of the dike itself, it's islands and any islands visible
in the marsh.) A LESSER YELLOWEGS was in the same corner of the
marsh and was often near the RUTU. Several, 8 - 10, SNOWY
PLOVERS were seen in various locations, at least two were in the Alviso
"mitigation pond" located between the RR tracks and Salt Pond A12, 2 - 3 were in
the pond located south of the RR tracks that run through the marsh near
where they join the mainline into Alviso, another was in the pond located near
the intersection of State and Spreckles and a couple were spotted by Mike
Mammoser out in the central portion of the marsh. The SNPL in the pond at
State and Spreckles was the only mostly juvenile marked SNPL that I've seen
recently.
Take care,
Bob Reiling
