Instead of chasing the Little Stint along the tracks, I cruised the entry
road to the EEC during the early daylight hours both Sat and Sun -- this
being the photo-op area. Pix from that are the first 7 at
http://www.pbase.com/tgrey/latest . I also have 4 pictures of problematic
dowitchers up, for those who like photo ID puzzlers, at
http://www.pbase.com/tgrey/dowitcherspecies (I didn't hear any of these
birds call, so I don't have "the right answers.") Finally, I've got a
couple more pictures from Baylands heronry, taken last Friday -- the first
2 at http://www.pbase.com/tgrey/duckpond06july .

Howdy all....
The birding in my yard is still great even with these hot days, although the
birds are truly stressed (beaks are open). The Black-headed Grosbeaks still
come daily and make a racket when I go out in the yard...never knew they
were such a noisy bird...they love the bird bath....
Here's my question: I have a pair of Western Tanagers coming daily to my
yard...both adults... and now I have what look like two young....I thought these
birds were migrants and long gone? Are the records of breeding here? I
can't find a picture of tanager young...checked Sibley's no picture
there....anyone know where I can see a picture of a young Western tanager?
Thanks so much....stay cool....
My best regards,
Linda Sullivan
