The Santa Clara Water District on Almaden Ex. was very quiet tonight. Then I saw something that seemed unusual. An adult female Brown headed Cowbird and two cowbird juveniles were perched on the fence surrounding the weather station. One juv. sidled up to the adult several times but neither were overtly begging. I was able to get close to these birds and study them for several minutes before they flew off together.
When I returned home I found another juvenile Brown headed Cowbird sitting near my bird feeder and three male Hooded Orioles of various hues chattering and chasing each other through the trees.
Yesterday I happened to look up my street and found a White tailed Kite mobbing a Golden Eagle. Both birds have been seen with some regularity over Almaden Meadows Park recently.
Evidence of breeding Pacific slope Flycatcher's in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park was noted this evening when a downy fledgling or juvenile PSFL was seen. It was giving a soft pipping call answered by another flycatcher which was heard only.
