On Saturday, 7 Jan 06, I went to Ogier Ponds and tramped around looking for
an American Bittern, but had no success. I did have the female REDHEAD, 4
HOODED MERGANSERS, and 3 COMMON MERGANSERS all on the little pond north of
the model airplane park. A couple GREEN HERONS also flushed from the pond
edges.
On the way home, I stopped to scope the vernal pool alongside Santa Teresa,
north of Bailey. Ducks and some shorebirds were here, but while looking at
them I heard a RUFOUS-CROWNED SPARROW calling from the side of Tulare Hill
behind me.
On the way to the Snowy Plover survey on Sunday, 8 Jan 06, I had a
RING-NECKED PHEASANT (year bird) perched on the fence near the EEC entrance
road.
