Folks:
I checked on a number of recent stakeouts today, 1/4/06. I parked beside
the maintenance road at the Coyote Creek GC and walked towards the
maintenance area. I found the continuing AMERICAN REDSTART below the bank
along the bike path in a willow thicket. This is between the two last
poles before the maintenance yard. After foraging in the willow a bit, it
flew up into the oaks and I eventually lost sight of it. It was silent the
entire time, but very active.
At the SCVWD ponds, I found an OSPREY, an adult PEREGRINE FALCON, an adult
GREEN HERON, and a male HAIRY WOODPECKER (likely the same bird reported
this fall and winter along the Guadalupe.
I counted six RED PHALAROPES in the southwest corner of Crittenden Marsh.
