1st- Thanks to Alvaro for the info on the Gyr (and I now know the correct
spelling)
Next - Out to Shoreline lake this morning. As I was leaving about noon I
spotted a bird in a tree along the right side of the road just before the
west exit from the golf course parking. I drove back around and was
surprised to find a Merlin just sitting there in mid tree about 12-15 feet
up. I probably spent 5-7 minutes from 1st spotting bird, driving around lot
to get back and parking off road under tree to take pictures. The Merlin was
still there when I left.
Then stopped at Geng Road. In reeds to left, both Black Crowned Night and
Green Heron,
Across pond to right and about 2 fairways over was what appeared to be a
Snow Goose in midst of large flock of Canada. Before I could get scope set
up they all took off, circled for a while then headed out towards Bixbee.
When they took off I noticed what was probably a second Snow Goose.
