The Black-and-white Warbler did not make an appearance
at Penitentia Creek Park between noon and 2 p.m. Saturday.
Seven people were looking for it on and off during that
time. The warbler was found about 2:15 p.m. on the north
side of the creek about 75 yards downstream from the wooden
bridge. It worked its way upstream gradually over the next
half hour, backtracking serveral times. The bird seemed to
check most of the trees along the creek without any particular
preference. Generally, it worked between 2 feet and 12 feet
above the ground. It crossed to the south side of the creek
numerous times. At 2:45, we lost sight of it about 40 yards
upstream from the bridge when it flew high into the crown
of the sycamores.
