Thanks to good tips from Kay Partelow, I found two WESTERN TANAGERs on the
Stanford Campus during the Palo Alto count on 12/18. These are wintering
birds, no doubt.
One was high in a tree behind the campus bookstore (and last seen
flying south
over the law school) at 9:10 am, and the other was feeding in
flowering eucalyptus
between Green library and Hoover Tower at 9:40 am.
For anyone wishing to look for these birds, Stanford parking restrictions are
conveniently suspended during the winter break, now through January 1.
