At Charleston Rd marsh, near the pump
house, mid afternoon today was (I think) a SONG SPARROW that was all rufus
and grey, except for cream malar stripes, not showing any white.
It was stuffing itself with Pampas Grass, both from the plant
and the ground. Compared with other Song Sparrows there, it seemed less shy
and puffier, but not notably larger. Would this likely be the Pacific
Northwest form shown in Sibley, except without the white belly?
