Ruth,
I don't know that I'm much of an expert on Golden Eagles; however, there is
a pair along McKean Road in South Almaden Valley that has successfully raised
two chicks for the past several years (at least 2-3 years). This past
season I had wondered if the eagle pair would again be successful as I had
only noted one chick in the nest during our cold and rainy spring; however, it
turns out that two chicks were in the nest and both grew to fledging
stage.
On our Spring Birdathon on April 23 this year, our team noted two immature
Golden Eagles perched together on a transmission tower not far from the
transmission tower nesting site on McKean Rd where we were able to see one
fuzzy white chick at that time.
A wonderful bird - We're fortunate to have them here in our area.
