Today (4/3/06) at 3:45pm in Willow Glen, I counted a flock of over
500 CEDAR WAXWINGS, gathered in the tops of 5 mature deciduous
(likely elm?) trees. The next block over, a similarly large flock
filled the tops of the street trees there. There may have been as
many as 1000, all told.
In ten minutes of birding at that location (Stone Church at Lincoln &
Clark) produced numerous BUSHTITS, 2 RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETS, 2
NUTTALL'S WOODPECKERS, and a single, singing male PURPLE FINCH.
