At 9:20-9:30 a.m. today, I watched at least 10 Cliff Swallows soaring above the bridge that connects the Steven's Creek Trail to Moffett Field at Crittenden Road in Mountain View. I also checked the Steven's Creek Trail from La Avenida to 101, looking for evidence of the early arrival/nesting of Rough-Winged Swallows in the pipe holes in the vertical concrete retaining walls that are part of the trail's 101 underpass, but so far I have seen no Rough-Winged Swallows. Only debris from last year's nests is in the pipe holes.
