Ted Chandik's Fly By Dawn group saw eight owls late in the day, which was just a few of those seen on Friday and earlier in the day on Saturday. Lisa Meyers said she and Les Chibana saw 30 owls on Friday, and other birders reported seeing 20 earlier on Saturday! This was in spite of a large gathering of pilots of ultra-light and hang gliders who were using the Mercey Springs "landing strip" for take-offs, and making a heck of a lot of noise in the process. Alas, we found no Mountain Plovers, although Lisa and Les saw 30 on Friday. Ted's group also saw both Western and Mountain Bluebirds, two Rock Wrens, and a Ferruginous Hawk that sat on the ground for a long time, either digesting or thinking about whatever hawks think about.
