After about an hour and a half I found 1 female RED CROSSBILL out on Vista Point. Right after this encounter, I had 2 COYOTES come strolling up the trail, veering off at the last minute to avoid me. Also during my time up there, I had at least 16 RED-BREASTED NUTHATCHES and 2 RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERS. On Tuesday, 25 Jan 05, I walked down San Tomas Aquino Creek to the spot where the Palm Warbler had been this winter, but failed to find it. However, the HOUSE WREN that had been seen on the CBC made a brief appearance. Today, 28 Jan 05, I found that at least 10 GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE are still present at Arzino Ranch in Alviso. At the EEC I had a first-year GLAUCOUS GULL perched on the new wooden platform on the east side of Mallard Slough, just across from the floating dock on the west side.
