Folks:

I stopped this morning, 1/18/2005, at some central county locations.  The 
Coyote Creek GC was fogged in and all I could dimly perceive in one of the 
ponds was a single male HOODED MERGANSER.  The fog was lifting as I got to 
Calero Reservoir, but there was no sign of the will-o-the-wisp Bald 
Eagle.  I then stopped for a short tour of the SCVWD ponds.  I admired the 
PEREGRINE FALCON pair that was there and also a nice pair of COMMON 
MERGANSERS in the Guadalupe River.  I counted eight RING-NECKED DUCKS in 
the main pond.  A tight flock of seven or so NUTMEG FINCHES was along the 
river.  The two birds I got my bins on were both immatures.
