Yesterday at the EEC in Alviso, the BARN OWL was in its box, the SANDERLING was along the first island in the pond in back of the visitor's center, and gulls were numerous - I had two definite HERRING GULL, and four-five MEW GULL before I gave up in despair (lacking a scope) over the size of the flock and the shortness of time in my day.  I found my first-of-year BURROWING OWL in the environs west of the Railroad track.

Today I had a double-eagle day at Calero - the BALD EAGLE was atop an oak past the dam, and a GOLDEN EAGLE perched on a telephone pole near the entrance to the boat ramp area.  I had at least six TRICOLORED BLACKBIRDS in the large blackbird flock by the horse stables, plus my first-of-year CALIFORNIA THRASHERS along the entrance road to the stables.  I searched for the Ferruginous Hawk south of Bailey on Santa Teresa and side roads, with no luck.  This expedition took place from 9:30-10:45 am.
