After little luck on the sought after bird, we walked around and came upon a few birders (sorry I didn't get your names) who had spied a first year GLAUCOUS GULL in the channel across the road from the "duck pond" (just beyond the entrance gate). This bird was quite pale with pure white primaries and typical bi-colored, very parallel bill. The head was perhaps a bit squarer on top than I've come to expect with Glaucous, but otherwise it seemed fine for a pure Glaucous (no larger gulls were around for size comparison, but it seemed fine next to Californias). Neat, bright undertail barring was very obvious on this bird. Kumaran Arul Santa Cruz, CA _______________________________________________ Do not post admin requests to the list.
