I saw him atop one of the poles in the rope course climbing area at the north end of the park. Other birds at the park today included one LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE near the southeast corner of the park where it adjoins the fenced preserve. Two GREAT EGRETS and one GREAT BLUE HERON were in various parts of the park. A flock of about two dozen WESTERN MEADOWLARKS were moving through the grass next to the Wave Walk. I saw two YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS flycatching from the top of the perimeter fence at the south end of the parking lot. Several TURKEY VULTURES circled above the field for a few minutes. The strange thing about this park right now is that because the flooding rains have come so late we have no ducks or coots on stilts in any of the flooded areas or in the permanent pond. I don't remember a time when all of these species were missing from the park for weeks during the winter.
