We were traveling up Leavesley from Hwy 152 when we noticed the bird. It crossed to the right hand side of the road and began looking around a residential construction site. This is the first Roadrunner that we have seen for a while out here. We have typically seen them further up in the hills, where they dart past us on the road from one area of cover to another. We then looped around Roop Road and noticed a Golden Eagle land beside the pond near Roop Road and Quail Ridge Road intersection. As we drove further down Roop Road at the Estate Drive intersection we saw either the same Golden Eagle land there or, perhaps, another one. It struck us that both the Roadrunner and Eagle(s) were in unexpected locations, which could have something to do with the weather that may have prevented them from finding their usual delicacies.
