Conservation efforts were under way to encourage the preservation of the Bluebird before such listings were being made. It was estimated by some that the EABL population had declined around 90% before serious conservation efforts were under way by the Lanes in Canada and Zeleny in the US. I would think that it could be said that they were threatened, but that their recovery is one of the truly great successes in which humans have had an active part.
