Sure enough, a first-winter GLAUCOUS GULL was sitting down on the dike north of the new wooden platform across the slough. After a while it stood up, walked south a bit, stretched its wings and tail, and then disappeared down the back side of the dike. Also at the EEC nearby were an unknown number of BARN OWLS in the nest box and a singing BEWICK'S WREN (unusual at the bay edge but present here for a year now).
